I used to think "parents just don't understand"/
'til I became a man/
Now it's because we're too busy to give a damn/
No one tell kids that when you grow up you're on your own/
so bein' in a hurry to be grown/ is an act of the idiot prone/
saw 2 little girls, maybe 14, wit half shirts on/
grown men starin' at them with a nasty overtone/
my woman says to me "why they dress like grown ups"/
I reply "what age is it okay for ANYBODY to dress like sluts?"/
I'm the father to a boy and a girl/
and it's hard to try to get them prepared for this world/
I have to teach them to be honest/and do all they promise/
I don't know how I can teach them that with a clear conscience/
I'm not sure I've heard honesty or just sincerity/cause apparently/
daily, I deal with lies from everything that stares at me/
not just the people either...
There's not truth in advertising/to many, that's not too suprising/
until selling things is how you're financially surviving/
then you just make concessions and
redirections just to deal/
lie to people's faces through some affiliate wheel/
that attempts to push you further away from the fact that you're lying/
for the sake of trying/to get people to your product and
buying/
things that the country itself can't afford/but it's like a sin to be bored/
we only respect who has more/
but their means to get it/if sifted/will reveal the statistic/
that they had to step on a few fingers to sell their gimmick/
So to tell my kids to be honest only extends to their parents a few friends/
cause they don't have the responsibility to try to sell to them/
but no parent can say that...
How can I say that to a 3 year old who tries to con her dad/
to eatin' handfuls of sugar right out the bag?/
How can I say that to a 5 year old boy/
That can't understand that he has to share his
toys?/
I think a child's instincts are what drives us until death/
cause a kid knows if he shares, he won't have anything left/
some people don't want "government handouts" but have thousands of student loans/
then they become a success and say "I made it on my own"/
really?...
I'm not knocking anyone, just listing the struggle/
cause we all cry in deep enough trouble/in life we juggle
